Sports Night With Champ Kind

Channel 4 News Team: Sports with Champ Kind

Champ Kind, here with KVWN Sports. It's time for Champs WHEBO Weekend Review. My drink is empty and I need a refill, let's not waste any time getting to know each other here, let's just get right into it.

The Power Rankings were published today and the Maracaibo Eagles find themselves perched on top of the pack. The Eagles have enjoyed the hot start thanks to 5 players already eclipsing the 50 hit mark for the season. That's good for a blistering pace, 200+ hits for each. 1B Victor Ortiz leads the offense at .377 AVG with 10 long balls, WHAMMY! He's on pace to launch 42 balls into the bleachers by the end of the season! WHHHHAMMMMY!! Fearless is a good way to describe this pitching group that is topped off with premier talent Nick Doss. Fitting that Doss is aptly nicknamed "Fearless" as he's put this new franchise on his back with his sparkling 1.07 WHIP, 4 wins and 54 strikeouts in the early going. Closer Francisco Avila might be old as a brontosaurus, but he's doing his part at the back of the staff locking down 12 saves in 15 appearances. If the middle of the staff can start contributing a bit more, this team could sustain and find itself in the late season mix like Jack and coke flowing down into my next glass.

Sacramento and Portland round out the top 3 while it looks like Panama City and Santo Domingo are deadset on fighting it out over the who takes the trash out. My money is on the Dukes.

That's not an error on your screen. As we take a look at the early leaderboards there really are 3 players cruising above .400 AVG for the year. In the early predictions, Marcos Tejeda of SLC was on watch for the exclsuive .400 club with an estimated .395 line. Whether he is able to maintain that over the course of a full season, will unfold before us. Having such great company pushing him like Alex Medellin and Elias Elizondo will be fun to watch with the fans being the true winner. Sacramento's Johnny Zapata is destroying baseballs as if they dissed his mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and the family dog. If his blantant abuse of the league supply of balls doesn't slow down soon, they might have to look for a second source to help keep up with his 81 home run pace. He's dumping those balls faster than a High School Senior ditches his date after scoring at home plate on prom night.

And that brings us to the standings table where we find some tight early divisional races. I'll say this, no matter who the bridesmaid ends up being in each division, they're gonna have to work their way in like that nosy neighbor that just won't go away. I mean, who invited that guy to the damn wedding anyway? There's currently 4 teams in each sub league fighting for one wild card spot. That's gonna make for some great late season action. I for one cannot wait for the season to progress and these standings shape up. Speaking of waiting, I've got an empty glass and it ain't gonna fill itself anytime soon. Digest these facts and stats I just laid on you and we will catch up next time.

Thats's it for this edition of Sports with Champ on KVWN News Channel 4! WHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAMMY!!!!!
